Workforce Development Scholarship
Overview
The Minnesota Legislature has provided funding for dozens of $2,500 scholarships at all of the 30 community and technical colleges of Minnesota State in the high-demand fields of:
Advanced Manufacturing
Health Care Services
Information Technology
Transportation (automotive, aviation)
Construction (carpentry, electrical)
Media Studies
Eligibility
Enrolled in high-demand occupation within eligible program.
Student must be enrolled in at least 9 credits per term; maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, and must be a Minnesota resident.
Students applying in the fall semester will see their payment split between the fall and spring semesters for $1,250 each. This application is in effect for the spring semester (do not need to reapply until year-two). The maximum a student can receive is 3-years' worth or $7,500 total.
Students applying in the for the spring semester will receive one $1,250 payment only. They must reapply for the following fall semester. This is designed to give students a chance to have "half of their first year's scholarship."
Preference for students in financial need, that demonstrate how, if awarded, this scholarship would help support their educational and career goals
