Scholarship Description:

The Metropolitan State University Foundation and School of Urban Education are pleased to announce the Urban Teacher Endowed Scholarship opportunity designated for any urban teacher candidate taking coursework or student teaching.

Award amount averages $1,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be admitted to the School of Urban Education at Metropolitan State University by the scholarship application deadline date
Must be registered for the semester(s) in which the funds are applied
Demonstrated culturally and linguistically diverse life experiences that will enhance your potential for success as an urban teacher of diverse youth
Demonstrated financial need and positive impact receiving a scholarship would have on your ability to accomplish your academic goals
Have a Metropolitan State University cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater for Graduate Students
Must submit an essay
Complete “Student Certification and Consent” form
Essay Questions:

Please submit an essay (minimum of 250 words, no more than two double spaced pages) answering the following essay questions/topics:

Demonstrated financial need and positive impact receiving a scholarship would have on your ability to accomplish your academic goals
Demonstrated culturally and linguistically diverse life experiences that will enhance your potential for success as an urban teacher of diverse youth
Metro State’s Writing Center tutors will be happy to work with you on your scholarship essay. Be sure the requirements for the scholarship(s) you are applying for are available when you work with them.
