Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants Endowed Scholarship
Overview
Scholarship Description:
This scholarship is provided through a generous contribution from the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. This endowment supports scholarship award(s) of approximately $1,000 to junior or senior students majoring in Accounting.
The scholarship recipient is strongly encouraged to reduce student loan borrowing. Qualified students may receive an award more than once.
Eligibility Criteria:
Be officially admitted to Metropolitan State University by scholarship application deadline date
Be a junior or senior student with a declared major in accounting.
Intend to take the CPA exam.
Have successfully completed Acct 311 and intends to take Acct 312.
Register for courses in the semester(s) in which the funds are applied.
Must submit an essay
Have a Metropolitan State University cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater
Complete “Student Certification and Consent” form
Essay Questions:
Please submit an essay (minimum of 250 words, no more than two double spaced pages) addressing the following essay questions/topics:
Describe (or briefly list) any activities including academic projects, honors, internships, university, professional and civic activities in which you have participated.
Why is it important to be a CPA?
What are your plans after graduation?
What do you like most about accounting?
Discuss how this scholarship will benefit you the most if you are awarded a scholarship.

Qualifications
Applicant must be a junior or senior.
Applicant must intend to take the CPA exam.
Applicant must have successfully completed Acct 311 and intends to take Acct 312.
Applicant must be pursuing a major in Accounting.
Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater.
