The Jim Mendesh Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of Jim Mendesh, a self-taught craftsman known for his strong work ethic and passion for hands-on, skilled work. The scholarship supports students pursuing applied, career-focused education in skilled trades and vocational fields.
Established by Jim Mendesh’s family, the scholarship recognizes and supports students who share his commitment to practical learning, craftsmanship, and dedication to their chosen career path. This scholarship is open to students at accredited two-year colleges or vocational-technical schools.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a Minnesota resident
- Be a high school senior or graduate (up to age 22)
- Plan to enroll full-time for the upcoming academic year
- Plan to be enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Demonstrate financial need (via FAFSA)
- Have a strong connection to the sport of golf (caddie, golf team member, golf facility employee, or parent/guardian employed at a golf facility)
Required Application Materials:
- FAFSA documentation
- High school transcript
- Letter verifying connection to golf (coach, employer, or golf facility staff)
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher or advisor
