Scholarship Description:

The Lois West Duffy and Joe Duffy Endowed Scholarship is very personal for Lois, as she went back to college to earn her degree after she was married and had 3 sons. She worked part-time jobs to pay for her college classes at Mankato State University, taking as many classes as she could afford per quarter. Even the most modest scholarship would have provided great encouragement at that stage. She went on to get a Master’s Degree at Harvard University, and then worked in the U.S. Senate and at Ecolab, Inc. in St. Paul, Minnesota. She earned more money that she ever would have without that college degree. “It gives me great pleasure to offer a helping hand to others, working hard to get that diploma!”, she says. When Lois retired, Ecolab helped her to start this scholarship fund which she continues to support, and she is grateful for the opportunities that have been afforded her.

Eligibility Criteria:

Be officially admitted to Metropolitan State University by scholarship application deadline date
Be an undergraduate student
Must be registered for each semester(s) in which the funds are applied as at least a half time student (a minimum of 6 credits per semester)
Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average
Maintain satisfactory academic progress
Complete “Student Certification and Consent” form
