LaVonne Bitu Memorial Scholarship

Overview
LaVonne Bitu taught computer science and mathematics at MSCS from 1979 to 2007. Towards the end of her tenure, she took on the duties of department chair, co-coordinator, and later, interim-dean, of the newly emerging General Education department, a quickly growing program at the college. In 2004, on sabbatical leave she researched General Education courses which were being offered by other Minnesota State Colleges and Universities and brought her findings to the department. Her work was instrumental in expanding General Education course offerings at the college. This scholarship honors her energy, her efforts, and her overall contribution to the college and to the Liberal Arts department in particular.
