Dakota and Native American Student Scholarship

Overview
In FY2022, Minnesota State College Southeast worked with the Prairie Island Indian Community to develop a land acknowledgment statement. As part of that work, the foundation and college has developed an annual scholarship to serve all students with a preference for Dakota and Native American students in the amount of $1,000. Although all students qualify to apply, students of Native American and particularly Dakota descent are awarded in priority in recognizing that the college occupies ancestral lands once belonging to the Dakota Nation. The college is committed to seeking additional funds to expand this scholarship for multiple students in the coming years.
